Meet Mark and Jill
Mark Neis and Jill Michaux are Topeka's consumer bankruptcy specialists, who proudly represent consumer and small business debtors in chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy. We do not represent institutional creditors, you do not have to worry about our loyalty.
Jill and Mark are both attorneys. We met representing opposing sides in a divorce. We joined our personal and professional lives in 1984 when we married and merged our law practices to form Neis & Michaux, P.A. We have 56 combined years of experience in bankruptcy law.
Our daughter, Michelle, is a college student and works with us at the law office part-time. She aspires to attend law school.
To better help you, we make it our business to keep up on bankruptcy law changes and stay out front in our field. When Congress passed the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) in April 2005, we traveled to San Diego and Chicago for multi-day training in the new law, a massive anti-debtor overhaul of bankruptcy law backed by the credit card industry and other creditors. We attend the annual meetings and are founding members of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and participate in local bankruptcy bar associations.
Mark and Jill are the only board certified consumer bankruptcy attorneys in Topeka. We are two of 10 Kansas attorneys who gone the extra mile to achieve board certification in consumer bankruptcy law by an American Bar Association accredited organization. We have earned the distinction of being Topeka's consumer bankruptcy specialists.
Jill is an avid Internet user and blogs on bankruptcy with the Bankruptcy Law Network, a group of the best consumer bankruptcy attorneys in the country. She administers the listserv for the Topeka Area Bankruptcy Council and receives daily updates from the NACBA listservs.
