LICENSES

Mark Neis and Jill Michaux are licensed to practice law in all courts in the State of Kansas, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and the United States District Court and the Bankruptcy Courts in the State of Kansas.

CERTIFICATION

We are board certified consumer bankruptcy specialists. Our certification was granted by the American Board of Certification, which is an American Bar Association accredited organization. We were the first certified consumer bankruptcy specialists in Kansas and two of ten in Kansas today. We are the only attorneys in Topeka entitled to say we are consumer bankruptcy specialists. We recertify with the American Board of Certification every five years.

SERVICE

We are founding members of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Topeka Area Bankruptcy Council and the Kansas Bar Association Bankruptcy and Insolvency Section. Jill Michaux served on the NACBA board of directors for that organization's first seven years. She is past president of the KBA Bankruptcy Section. Both Mark Neis and Jill Michaux have been president of the Topeka Area Bankruptcy Council.

EDUCATION

Mark Neis has a bachelor of business administration degree from Washburn University. He is a 1978 graduate of Washburn University Law School. Jill Michaux received a bachelor of science in journalism degree in 1973 from the University of Kansas. She graduated from Washburn University Law School with dean's honors in 1982. Both attorneys had solo law practices before merging them to form Neis & Michaux, P.A., in July 1984.
